rings and rainbows

Yesterday Mike and I took a nice bike ride with some friends.  All day the weather threatened to storm, but we ended up with a beautiful ride!  A little breezy but not too hot, and not a drop of rain.

Because of the storms off in the distance, a beautiful rainbow made an appearance.  It sure made the second half of the ride a bit “easier”!

The rainbow reminded me of the promise God made never destroy the earth again by water.

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” – Gen 9:12-16 NIV

I am also reminded of a covenant I made 4 years ago today based on a passage from Philippians 2:1-4.

Since I have have encouragement from being united with Christ, comfort from his love, and fellowship with the Spirit, and am full of tenderness and compassion, then today I choose to make my joy complete by being like-minded with you, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. I will do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider you before myself. I will choose to look not towards my own interests, but to put your interests ahead of mine own.

Happy Anniversary Mike! I love you and would marry you all over again =)  You are a blessing and an encouragement.  You are my best friend and a wonderful leader for our family and I love you more today than I did four years ago.  I pray the Lord will bless us with many more years together.

  1. Has it been 4 years…..I remember the ceremony and was glad I was on the groom’s side because I could see your face, Katie, when you said you vows. God Bless you both. Pat
