Christmas in Michigan

I feel a little like I’m writing a chapter book…

We boarded a plane and headed back to Detroit, arriving around midnight.  We decided to go ahead and cross the state that night so we could start our day already in Jenison at Mike’s parents.  We arrived at 3:00 am…  Needless to say, I was not much help with the driving =)

In Michigan, we celebrated Christmas, the boys went shooting, the girls did a little shopping, we decorated gingerbread houses with Grandma and Grandpa and deep fried a turkey (which went over really well)!  We also started this “documentation” process of Grandma and Grandpa’s lives.  Mike created a list of questions about their growing up years, life together, jobs, work, family, etc.  It was awesome to hear them share their stories.  We have more to “cover,” but are looking forward to hearing more.  I’m trying to come up with a way to document them (creatively), so if you have any suggestions, feel free to share!

Here are a few pictures.

The kids also went to the gym one morning.  Mike and his brother Brad agreed earlier in the fall to have a “lifting contest.”  They both were working through lifting programs and wanted to see who made the most improvement in the 15 week period!  It was a lot of fun.  While Mike did come out on top =) (I was very proud of him), Brad did a great job and made some awesome improvements!

We really enjoyed our time together and are looking forward to getting back together to celebrate Adam and Kelly getting married in May!!
