beginning of fall

Fall has begun to show itself around eastern Tennessee and we would be remiss to miss out on a great opportunity to do a bit of yard work.  There still is plenty left to do but here are a few things we have accomplished so far.

Updated our berry patch.  We wanted to separate the raspberries and black berries, cut down on the mowable grass/weed area and expand a bit.  So we hubs added two new boxes, put down weed blocker paper (I did help with this!) and mulched the berry patch.  I think it turned out quite nicely.

Of course we had a little helper =)

Cleaned up the GardenWe Hubs then also mulched around our garden and wood pile to help cut down on the weeds.  Look at how big the basil plant is!!

While surveying the work that hubs was able to accomplish on his Friday off, I noticed our knock-out rose was still going strong!  How cool is that?!  I’m pretty sure its been blooming since we planted it in July (I think).

  1. Love those KnockOut Roses. I fell in love with them the first time I ever saw them….at a neighbors here around the corner (she no longer has them) and at Colonial…don’t know if they are still there or not. I love God’s creation….but without human hands it doesn’t do nearly as well…of course the humans can only maintain what He has already made.

    • Thanks! I didn’t really know too much about them until this year and thought that they would fit in perfectly in that part of the flower bed. Thanks for your great perspective on God’s creation =)

  2. Brad just wanted to point out that the picture with the two boxes makes it look like you buried BODIES in your back yard! What kind of things are you guys up to down there, anyway? I mean, I’m sure it makes great fertilizer…

Love you both, and congrats on a successful growing season once again!

    • haha!! i could see why he would say that and he WOULD be the one to say that =) Can’t wait to see your house really soon! Mom said you have been working on some of the color and I know it’s going to look fantastic!
